The founder of the brand Louis Vuitton was born in 1821 in a poor family, so he worked since childhood, helping his father, a joiner. At the age of 14, he went on foot to Paris from the town of Franche-Comté, which was 400 km from the capital.

Entering work as an apprentice to the master in the manufacture of travel trunks, he soon became a specialist in his field. He also coped with the duty of a luggage packer for traveling in manufactured trunks and boxes, so Empress Eugene, wife of Napoleon III, entrusted him with taking care of her things. This played a positive role in the fate of Louis: in 1954 he opened his own production and the first trading house on the Champs Elysees.

After the invention in 1959 of a new fabric based on cotton, linen and polyvinyl chloride, which has exceptional properties, sales of the brand’s products skyrocketed.
